Funeral service for Mildred Leatherman, age 96, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery.
Mildred was born on April 12, 1920, in Clarendon, Texas, one of the six children of Frank and Lois (Shapley) Wallin, and passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016, in Enid. Mildred grew up in Gruver, Texas, on the family farm. On August 14, 1943, she married Lester Leatherman in Liberal, Kansas.
She was a schoolteacher for the Balko and Perryton school districts, retiring in 1980. Mildred was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was a dedicated and loving wife, and caretaker of her husband, Lester, until his passing on February 23, 2012, loving mother, and always enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Larry and wife Judy of Norwich, Kansas, Ruby and husband George Tritschler of Enid, Kay and Kenny Waggoner of Stillwater, and Rhonda and husband Darrell Tope of Tulsa; grandchildren, Chris (Kylee) Leatherman and their children Alex and Bobby; Keri (Duane) Liddeke and their children Kash and Kruce; Lanee (Jeff) Anderson and their children Alissia, Kailey (Zac), Kressa, (Aryanna), Sheri (Brian) Eilert and their children Andrew, Logan, Emily and Daniel; Jeanne (Chris) Forman and their children Samuel, Lucas, and Isaac; Misty (Dion) Hayes and their children Taylor, Kinsey, and Grayson; Tim (Kim) Waggoner and their children Brandon (Jayce, Braden, and Lucie) Brittany and Ashley; Tina (Dave) Bakken and daughter Makayley; Trisha (Mark) Glenn and their children Bryce, Julie and Jeffery; Christie (Michael) Stallings and their children Michaela and Cora; and Katherine (Zac) Jones and their daughter Kinlee; two siblings, Frankie Leatherman and Joe Wallin.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Lester; parents; siblings, Geraldine Parks, Juanita Bayless, and Raymond Wallin.
