The graveside service for our beloved father, brother, and friend, Frederick Clayton Latchaw, Jr., age 75, will be held at 2 p.m. in the Enid Cemetery on Monday, November 28, 2016, under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
He was born June 21, 1941, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Frederick Clayton Latchaw and Bonita Lucille Albert Latchaw and passed away November 20, 2016, of causes incident to age. He grew up in Enid and learned the value of hard work. He attended Enid schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1959 and later from Phillips University with a degree in Physics. He also earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Indiana University.
He was actively involved with the Civil Air Patrol and was the Oklahoma Wing Commander serving in Oklahoma, Indiana, and Texas. He loved to fly and at the age of 16 earned his pilot's license. He loved nature, exploring, and seeing new things. Before retiring, he worked as a flight instructor for American Airlines at the Flight Academy at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He loved his family and was preceded in death by his father and mother and leaves two children, Ramona Schober (Matthew) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Jason Corey Latchaw (Raelyn) of Milton, Florida; two grandsons, Nathan and Gabriel Latchaw; a sister, Mary Hoopes (Paul) of Blackwell, Oklahoma, their children, Timothy Jared Hoopes of Hollywood, Florida, and Evie Hoopes of Sunrise, Florida; and a brother, David (Glenda) of Rosharon, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aviation Fellowship, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
