Edward Kessner, 83, died Wednesday morning in a local hospital. His funeral rites will be at 2 PM Friday in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. August H. Meitler officiating. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery.

Kessner was born in Concordia, Missouri, and was married to Josephine Helling on December 14, 1902, at Linn, Kansas. They came to Covington in 1903 where he farmed until retiring and moving to Enid in 1920.

His wife Josephine preceded him in death August 30, 1970.

Kessler was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Leona) Hale and Mrs. Arno (Irene) Pautsch, both of Enid; two sons, Wilbert Kessner, Lawton and Vernon Kessner, Tulsa; a brother, Herman Kessner, Beatrice, Nebraska; seven grandchildren and seven great – grandchildren.

The body will lie in state until 1 PM Friday in the casket will remain closed following the service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edward (Josephine) Kessner, 87, who died Sunday in a local convalescent home following a long illness, will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday in Brown's Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. August Meitler will officiate and burial will be in the Enid Cemetery.

Mrs. Kessner was born in Union, Missouri, and was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

The Kessners were married December 14, 1902, in Linn, Kansas, and moved to Covington in 1902. They moved to Enid in 1920 and observed their 67th wedding anniversary last December.

Survivors include her husband Edward Kessner of the home at 1412 E. Broadway; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Leona) Hale, Mrs. Arno (Irene) Pautsch, both of Enid; two sons, Wilbert Kessner, Lawton and Vernon Kessner, Tulsa; seven grandchildren and nine great – grandchildren.
