November 14, 1934 - August 8, 2020
Doris Jean Jones went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at St. Mary's Regional Hospital.
Doris was born in Jet, OK on November 14, 1934, daughter to the late Carl S. and Essie B. Tarr Wells. She grew up in Jet, OK and graduated from Jet High School. She attended and graduated from Enid Beauty College. Doris married David Dean Jones on April 20, 1956. She worked as a beautician before residing at home to take care of her children and be a homemaker. She also served with her husband in ministry as a pastor's wife and served Jones Backhoe and Dump Truck Service as self-titled "CEO" for 30 years.
Doris loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, church family, and friends greatly. She was caring and a very lovable woman. Doris was a devout Christian and encouraged everyone she knew to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to live for Him. She loved to cook (she made the best homemade buttermilk waffles), have long phone calls, be with her family, attend church, and go on trips with Susan and visit Dean at his Lake house. She enjoyed sitting on the back porch at his lake house and enjoyed the view of the lake and his company.
Doris is survived by her children; Dean Jones and wife Debbie of Apache, OK and Susan Cross and husband David of Ringwood, five grandchildren; Brandi Barnes, Michael Jones, Amber Shann, Taylor Griffin and Nathan Jones and 6 great- grandchildren; Jillian and Reese Barnes, Kate, Emery, and Aila Shann, and Elijah and Levi Jones and 1 sister, Vivian Watson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Jones of 53 years, her parents and 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
A Celebration of Life service for Doris J. Jones, age 85 of Enid, will be held at 10 am, Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Visitation will be open August 11th from 2pm-9pm and August 12th from 8am-9pm at the funeral home.
