The graveside service for Ava Bim (Miller) Jones will be 2 p.m. today, Oct, 25, 2014, in the Enid Cemetery Chapel. Gordon Jantz will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Longtime Enid resident Ava Bim (Miller) Jones was born in Kim, Colo., on Aug. 13, 1927, and went to heaven on Oct. 21, 2014.

She was the middle child of seven children born to William Wesley Miller and Iva Blanche Miller.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph K. Miller, James Troy Miller, William Gale Miller; and one sister, Iva Trix Sutton. She is survived by one brother and one sister, Burl Gene Miller and Twyla Bee Montano.

The Miller family moved to Shattuck, where they lived until moving to Enid for Bim’s senior year.

She graduated from EHS in1945. She attended one semester at Oklahoma State University but came back home and began working as a waitress at Polly & Peggy’s Cafe, where she would proudly tell you that “she married the boss.”

She and Walter Pearson ran the cafe for over 20 years and had four children: Peggy, Patty, Pam and son, Walter.

March 24, 1971, Bim married Charles Jones. She was an active Camp Fire leader for several years. She loved attending World Harvest Church.

She was active in Women A-Glow and was on a healing team. She told everyone that she loved Jesus.

After her health declined, she attended North Garland Church of Christ with Charlie and often spoke of how much she loved the church members there.

They traveled with the Specialty T’s and Geronimo antique car clubs.

The total of children from her combined family with Charlie is eight children, 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was a loving and active mother and grandmother. Everyone called her “Grandma Bim.”

Memorials may be made to OMRF (Alzheimer’s Division) with Henninger-Hinson acting as custodians of the fund.

Condolences may be made to the family online at www.enidwecare.com.
