FUNERAL SERVICE SET FOR RAY A. JOHNSON

Birth: Nov. 1, 1891 Death: Jun. 4, 1966

Funeral services for Ray A. Johnson, 74, 319 E. Cherokee will be at 10 a.m. today in

the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank C. Mabee officiating. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery beside his wife.

Johnson was found dead on the porch of his home Sunday morning. He had a 22 caliber pistol in his hand and he had been shot in the stomach and left temple.

Garfield County medical examiner Dr. E. G. Smith, and police and County officers investigated and the medical officer found the stomach and head wounds apparently had been self-inflicted.

Johnson had lived alone since his wife died last July 8, and neighbors reported he had been despondent at times. He was a native of Kingfisher County and had lived near Hennessy before moving to Enid. He was employed for 30 years by the C. E. Loomis Furniture company prior to his retirement in 1956. He was a member of the University Place Christian church.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Homer Fortson, Allie Paine, Fred Lewis, Julian Stetnish, Loren Loomis and Floyd Thomas.
