Dr. Joe Jarman's funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church. He was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Carney, Neb. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Jarman was chief of staff at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center and Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. He also was a board certified member and fellow of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, member of American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine and past president of Oklahoma State Orthopaedic Society.
He served as team doctor for Enid High School for 30 years, from 1968 to 1998.
He received the Silver Beaver Award from Boy Scouts of America in 1980 for his volunteer service to scouting. He also was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. He spent two years active duty as a surgeon in the Air Force at March Air Force Base, Calif.
He received his bachelor's degree from OU in 1958 and his doctor of medicine from OU in 1961. He did his internship in 1962 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City. He did his orthopaedic residency under Dr. Don H. O'Donohue at OU 1962-66.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Smith Jarman; his children, Robert Neil Jarman, M.D., and Janet Jarman McClain; and four grandchildren.
