Funeral services for Alvin R. Hume, 74, 624 W. Oklahoma, will be at 2 PM Wednesday in St. Matthews Episcopal Church with the Rev. Barney Jackson officiating at the rites.

Hume will be buried in the Enid Cemetery. Henninger – Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hume died Sunday evening in a local hospital. He was born on a farm south of Garber, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Hume. He moved to Enid with his parents and graduated from high school here.

Hume attended Oklahoma State University and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he was employed for many years by the Hume Motor Company, later working at Martin's Body Shop until his retirement in July 1971.

Hume was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Hume's family has suggested that those who wish make contributions to the building fund of St. Matthew's Church in his memory.

His survivors include two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Waldo (Sara) Clegg, Mrs. John (Jeanette) Marler and Edward J (Ned) a Hume, all of Enid.
