Dale Wayne Holt was born Jan. 13, 1949, to Carlos Dale and Carrie Holt. Dale was raised and attended Carver Elementary, Emerson and Enid High School in Enid, Oklahoma. During his school years, he was known by the nickname "Cherry Pie." Dale was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a quarterback for Enid on three straight Oklahoma state champion football teams, 1964, 1965, and 1966. He started at quarterback in 1965 and 1966. He was named All-State in 1966 and played in the Oil Bowl game, Oklahoma High School players against Texas High School players. He was an Academic and Prep All-American as well as a High School Prep All-American. In 1966, Dale was named a Scholastic Magazine All-American High School Football Player.

He graduated from Enid High School in 1967. He was able to attend a reunion of former Kansas football players in 2015, and it was one of the most enjoyable times of his life. He attended Kansas University on a full football scholarship and played in the 33rd Annual Orange Bowl Classic. After attending Kansas University for four years, Dale worked at Champlin Refinery Oil Co. for 13 years and at OG&E for 27 years. He was always a friend to all and made strangers always feel welcome.

Dale was a founding member of the Super Bowl Brothers, who helped the city of Enid celebrate Juneteenth each year, the celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dale joined and was baptized at Grayson Missionary Baptist Church in 1993. He served as the Chairman of Deacons for many years. He was a faithful member of Sunday school, Prayer Services, Bible Class Study, and Sunday morning Worship. Each year, he was the chairperson for the Pastor's and Wife Appreciation. Dale was a servant of the Lord and unto Grayson until his health failed him and he could no longer attend.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Dale Holt, and brother John Holt (Janet).

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving spouse of 47 years, Evelyn Holt; two sons, Kevin Holt (Victoria) of Dallas, Texas, and Spencer Holt (Ricshika) of Richmond, Texas; his mother, Carrie L. Holt of Enid; four sisters, Jean Robinson and Karen Holt of Enid, Judy Hunter (Delbert) of Wichita, Kan., and Phyllis Holt of Oklahoma City; one brother, Steve Holt (Carolyn) of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren, Carmen Booms, Cameron Holt, Skyler Holt, Spencer Holt, and Chelsie McKinney; loving uncles J.W.
