William B. Hemingway, 75, died Thursday morning following a lengthy illness.
Services will be held Monday, 10 AM, in the Henninger – Allen Chapel. Rev. Charles Gibson, of the Davis Park Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery with Henninger – Allen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Hemingway was born in Trenton, Missouri. After graduating from high school in Trenton, he joined the Missouri National Guard. He was a sergeant during World War I with the 139th Infantry Division and served in the St. Mihiel, Verdun and Argonne battles.
He was employed by the Rock Island Railroad and moved to Enid in 1923. A lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he had been retired from the railroad since 1963 after 45 years service.
He married the former Frances Anning in the Enid June 30, 1925, who survives him.
Other survivors are three sons, Bill, Woodward, Jim, Pacific, California, Richard, Indianapolis, Indiana; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Bassett, Trenton, Missouri, Mrs. Clarence Wilcox, Trenton, Missouri, Mrs. Engle England, Kansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. Lydol Bitz, Chicago, and seven grandchildren.
