Funeral Services for Margaret S. Harmon, 88, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church with Rev. John McLemore and Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Margaret was born into a pioneer family Sept. 22, 1917, in Bayfield, Colo., to Charles R. and Inez S. Gilliland Oldham and passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006.
She graduated from Pawnee High School in 1935. She studied music at Washington University in St. Louis the summer of 1935. In 1936, she moved to Enid and worked for Woolworth and assisted with her family’s business, Oldham Market.
She married Lee R. Harmon Feb. 22, 1937. Margaret and Lee were true soulmates and were married for 51 years until his death in 1988. Their marriage provided a great example for their children to follow. During World War II, in which he served, she stayed at home with three children. She retired from Central National Bank as an assistant cashier in 1983. She was a member of Central Christian Church and the sewing club.
She is survived by her children, Larry Harmon and wife Carolina of El Paso, Texas, Sharon Brummett of Tulsa, Steve Harmon and wife Barbara of Prescott, Wis., John Harmon and wife Nancy of Rockport, Texas, and Dennis Harmon of Joplin, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy Groom of Tulsa; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee, brother Simbrose, and one grandchild, Lance Harmon.
Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church or to the American Cancer Society with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
