Funeral services for William Earl Hanna, 75, who died Friday evening in a local nursing home, will be Sunday at 2 PM in the Central Christian Church. The Rev. Lloyd Lambert will officiate and burial will be in the Enid Cemetery.
The Fossett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Hanna was born March 2, 1903, in Chickasha. The family moved to Mountain View in 1906 and to Enid the following year.
While a freshman at Phillips University Hanna was one of five chosen by the American Chautauqua Association as a performer. The following nine summers he toured the central states and southern Canada. After graduating from Phillips with a degree in music and in biological science Hanna taught at Wilber, Nebraska.
He continued his music studies at the University of Nebraska, and later teaching in Attica, Kansas, and Kinsley, where he developed an orchestra band and vocal department.
Hanna returned to Oklahoma to be near her his parents and spent the next 14 years at Hennessey. His last year of teaching was at Laverne, where he retired about seven years ago. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and was past President of the Enid Men's Garden Club. He was elected pianist for the National Garden Club convention in Dallas.
Hanna, who had given numerous programs on Early American Pressed Glass, spent most of his retirement years at his home at 1101 S. Van Buren.
Survivors include a sister – in – law, Mrs. O. Fred Hanna of Enid; two nieces, Mrs. H. L. Sullivan of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Verlie Harrell, Detroit, Michigan.
