ENID, OK - Funeral for Phillip Edward ?Phil? Gable, 73, Enid, will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, at Central Assembly of God Church. Pastor Kevin Ward will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Enid Cemetery under the kind guidance of Stittsworth Funeral Service.
Phil was born June 10, 1940, in Blackwell, the son of William Edward and Flossie Ward Gable, and passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013 in Enid.
He was raised and educated in Blackwell, graduating from Blackwell High School with the class of 1958; then Phil attended NOC, where he received his associate?s degree.
He married Anita Williams in Tonkawa August 10, 1968.
He served his country in the United States Army, returning to Oklahoma City, after his honorable discharge, where he was employed with Quail Creek Country Club as an assistant golf course superintendent. Phil and Anita moved to Stillwater, later moving to Enid, where Phil was the golf course superintendent at Oakwood Country Club, retiring in 2001 after 30 years. He operated Gables Sod Farm and Gables Sprinklers.
He was a member of Central Assembly of God Church, Golf Course Superintendents Association; and Men's Garden Club. Phil was proud of his diploma from Rod Parsley's School of Ministry.
Survivors include his wife, Anita of the residence; son, Carl Gable of Enid; daughters, Holly Wedel of Enid and Philita Daniel of Drummond; nine grandchildren; sisters, Verda Gable of Enid and Doris (James) Stout of Stigler, Oklahoma; brothers, Robert (Kitty) Fisher of Blackwell and Ralph (Shirley) Gable of Quinton, Oklahoma.
Phil was preceded in passing by his parents and sister Carol Price.
