Ferd C. Brakhage of Sallisaw, 71, died Thursday afternoon after a short illness. His funeral rites will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of the Brown Funeral Home with Dr. R. G. Trent and Rev. Roy C. Rowlan officiating.
Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery.
Brakhage was born near Ames and attended grade school at Lahoma, then graduated from Enid high. He served as deputy sheriff from 1936 to 1940 and was assistant Sergeant of Arms for the state Senate for a term.
Brakhage, a former member of the Enid Police Department, moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1945 where he was employed as a guard for the Desilu Studios for 27 years, then moved to Sallisaw.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Brakhage and Elsie McCoy were married December 30, 1922, at Fairview and she survives. Other survivors include a son William L. Brakhage of Channelview, Texas; four grandchildren; three great – grandchildren; a brother, John Brakhage of Enid; four sisters, Mrs. Rosie Webb and Mrs. Clara Lindell, Enid, Mrs. Mary Longhofer, Cleo Springs, and Mrs. Katie Unruh, Wichita, Kansas.
