Mrs. Della M. Bess, 88, died Monday afternoon in a local nursing home, following a lengthy illness.
Her funeral rites will be at 2 PM Thursday in the First Wesleyan church with Reverend W. C. Brannon and Reverend Max A. Colaw officiating. Burial will be beside her husband in the Enid Cemetery under the direction of Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bess was born in Skidmore, Missouri, October 1, 1882, and moved to Mulberry, Kansas, with her parents at an early age, then moving to Oklahoma. She and Leotis Bess were married in November, 1905, and lived near Waukomis until moving to Enid in 1925.
Mrs. Bess was preceded in death by her husband, Leotis in 1949; a son, Donald in 1963 and one grandson.
She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include a son, Reverend Marion F. Bess, Kansas City, Kansas; four daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Daisy) Cockrell, Marion, Indiana, Mrs. Robert (Melva) Peck, Whittier, California; Mrs. Franklin (Jeanette) Vincent, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Tom (Leota) Williams, Enid; 17 grandchildren; 51 great – grandchildren and two great – great – grandchildren; a brother, Russell Woodruff, Enid; three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Dick, Enid, Mrs. L. R. (Florence) Kaupke, Drummond, and Mrs. Ethel Stoops, Yale; several nieces and nephews.
