Services for Dick Bell, local independent insurance agent and longtime civic leader, will be at 2 PM Saturday at Central Christian Church.
Dr. Lloyd H. Lambert and the Rev. Lewis Corporon will officiate. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Bell, 1521 Ramona, died Thursday afternoon of an apparent heart attack while hunting with his son, Jim. He was the owner of Dick Bell Insurance in the American Standard Life Center North.
Bell was born in Enid on January 22, 1926, to Dean and Ruth Bell. He graduated from Enid High School and the University of Oklahoma.
On November 20, 1948, he married Beverly Nicholson in Enid.
He was a longtime member of the Phillips University Board of Trustees. He also was a member of the Rotary Club, on the Board of Directors of Liberty Federal Savings and Loan and the Credit Bureau of Enid.
Bell was an active member of Central Christian Church and was past Pres. of the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce.
He also served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War I I, and was then elder and member of the Central Christian Church board, president of the Sooner class, member of Oklahoma Christian Church Board, Oklahoma Christian Church Foundation Board, member of the executive committee of State Chamber of Commerce, board of Enid Salvation Army, United Way Board, chairman of St. Mary's Hospital Board, member of Great Salt Plains Council, Boy Scouts of America, Oklahoma State Insurance Association, National Association of Independent Agents and Grand National Quail Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to Central Christian Church or to the Oklahoma Wildlife Federation with the funeral home serving as custodian.
In addition to his son, Jim, Bell is survived by his wife, Beverly; and other son, Dr. Steve Bell, Atlanta, Georgia; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and his parents.
