James Wallace Wongahawka Austin was born in Crescent, Oklahoma, on August 30, 1926, to James W. Austin Sr. and Bernice Officer-Austin-Manning.

Throughout his life, he had a few nicknames that were bestowed on him. To list a few The Long Ranger, The Comedian, June, and Jimmy Jump Jump. With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and slowly fade away. God saw that you were getting tired, and cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you, and said "come home with me." Before daybreak on Thursday, May 24, 2018, Jim went to be with his Lord, with his wife and family at his side. Jim worked in the family business, Manning and Austin Trucking, Enid, OK. He also worked in Chicago, IL, at The Continental Can Co. Jim later retired from Vance AFB as an expediter.

Jim joins those who preceded him in death, both parents; one son, James W. Austin III; two sisters, Betty Davis and Lorraine "Chick" Locke; and three brothers, William "Bill" Austin, Oliver Vaugh "Red" Austin, Ray Dean Austin, and Garland Manning.

Jim leaves to celebrate his life his very devoted wife Karmon of 17 and a half years; one daughter, Evelyn B. Austin; brothers, Delbert (LaFaye) Austin of Enid and Marion (Delores) Austin of Chickasha; three sisters-in-law, Danquin McCord, Erma Austin, and Jackie Manning. Jim's grandchildren: Demetria Dixon, Trentan Dixon, Shalonda (Chuck) Kearney, Shavonne Penn, and Lamount Dority. Great-grandchildren: Anjunea, Trentan Jr, Sierra, Josiah, Niomi, Essence, Tavion, and Jeremiah. Great-great-grandchildren: Denver, Brendan, and Taveon.

Funeral service for Jim Austin is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilbur Flynn and the Rev. D.L. Norwood officiating.

Burial is in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.
