Funeral service for Dorena C. Anderson, 65, of Meridian, Miss., formerly of Enid, Okla., will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Grayson Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Norris L. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Enid Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grayson Missionary Baptist Church, with Ladusau Evans acting as custodian of the funds. Dorena C. Anderson was born Sept. 26, 1948, in Enid, Okla., to Louise Shaw and Luther Brewer and died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in Meridian, Miss.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Grayson Baptist Church in Enid. She later united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Meridian, Miss., where she served faithfully. She served in the church as a member of the health team ministry, mission ministry and the kitchen ministry.
She graduated in 1966 from Enid High School. After 30 years of service as a transcriber, she retired from St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She later worked as a diabetic representative and nanny/caregiver for the family of Dr. Juantina Johnson.
She was united in marriage to Alfred Anderson.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Darrin Brewer; two grandchildren, Darrin Brewer Jr. and Ashley Wooden; a sister, LaNita Shrum and husband Dwight; one brother, Matthew Threat; one stepbrother, Clayton Nolen; three greatgranddaughters; stepmother, Wilma Brewer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Phyllis Ann Morrison; and her cherished Aunt Hattie Mary Jones.
