The funeral for Hettie "Dolly" Allen, 99, who died early Wednesday at her home 520 S. Jackson after a period of failing health, will be at 2 PM Saturday in Henninger – Allen Funeral Home. The Rev. Roger N. Ferguson, Minister of Trinity Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born August 27, 1885, at Cheney, Kansas, to Wellington C. And Ann Yardley Allen. At the age of six months, she traveled with her parents in a covered wagon to Oregon, returning to Oklahoma by train at the age of 13.
She and Clifton J. Allen were married in 1903. The couple operated Reno Creamery on North Grand for several years. He died in 1944.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Lorene Darling, Ethel Martin, both of Enid, and Grace Ferrill, Wichita, Kansas; three sons, Bob, Enid, Leonard, Tilton, New Hampshire, and Don, Wichita, Kansas; 21 grandchildren; 39 great – grandchildren; and several great – great – grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Clifton, she was preceded in death by three children.
