Melvin Eugene Kruse
September 30, 1943 - November 10, 2022

The funeral for Melvin E. Kruse, 79-year-old Enid resident, is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in Henninger-Hinson Chapel. Pastor Damon Burpo will officiate. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery. Visitation with family is 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

Melvin was born September 30, 1943, in Enid to Dale and Ora (Mitchell ) Kruse and died Thursday, November 10, 2022, in his home in Enid. He attended Hillsdale schools, graduating with the class of 1961. He then attended college in Okmulgee, where he learned carpentry.

On October 1, 1964, he married Sharon Ross, and the couple made their home in Enid. Melvin worked with Southwestern Bell for 30 years as a customer service technician. He was a member of the American Legion and Communications Workers of America, where he served as Vice-President.

He was an accomplished wood-worker, but his greatest love was playing music. He played all his life. First with his father, then his son, and later grandson.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; daughter Tina Olson and husband Rodney, Enid; son Boyd Kruse and wife Rechel, also of Enid; five grandchildren, Seth Olson and AZ, Josh Olson and wife Taylor, and Kayla and husband Brett, Zyrelle and Zillah Kruse; one brother, Wayne; two sisters, Carolyn and Pat; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to OMRF (esophageal cancer division).
