Herman Paul Krausse
March 16, 1936 - November 7, 2023
Herman Paul Krausse, 87, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2023 at the Commons with his daughter and friends by his side. Services for Herman will be November 13, 2023 at 11:00am at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery.
Herman was born March 16, 1936 in Enid to Kurt Herman Krausse and Mildred Overstreet.
He grew up in Douglas, OK, graduating from Douglas High School. On October 21, 1961, Herman married Beverly Ann Dye at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. On April 18, 1966, they welcomed their only child, Annette Marie Krausse. They made their home in Enid.
After only a few months in the Army, Herman became certified as an aircraft mechanic and worked for Northrop Grumman at Vance AFB in Enid as a jet engine mechanic for approximately 40 years. During that time, he and his buddies would meet for coffee every morning at various local restaurants before starting their day. This tradition continued after retirement.
Being outside was a necessity for Herman. Farming was always a passion, so he continued helping family during harvest. He became a farmer himself, growing wheat and raising cattle even while working a hard day at "the Base". His hobbies included lawn work, fishing, bird hunting and growing a garden in his backyard.
While farming, Herman couldn't wait to visit his watermelon patch down on the creek or for Beverly to serve up her fried potatoes with his home grown tomatoes and other vegetables he grew in their garden. Herman, Beverly, and Annette often enjoyed weekend camping trips to Oklahoma lakes, or road trips and vacations to visit friends and family.
Always willing to help and able to fix just about anything, Herman was often approached by friends and neighbors to fix lawn mowers and fishing poles, which kept him busy during his retirement. He was known to fix things other people couldn't seem to figure out. He just loved to work, help care for his family, and to "piddle around", as Beverly would say.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly, sister, Betty Clickner, brother Larry Krausse, Beverly's sister Mary and her husband Robert Smolarek, and Herman's nieces Brenda Brown and Jennifer Dye. He is survived by his daughter Annette Krausse, Dallas; sister Deloris (Dee) Williams, Wisconsin, and many other nieces, nephews, and close relatives.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, the family requests to PLEASE GIVE to those in need through Anderson-Burris to Our Daily Bread for senior meals, or to Enid Outreach Services to care for the homeless.
