September 2, 1930 - December 24, 2019
A Celebration of Life for Alvin Dean Hedges, age 89, of Enid is 2 p.m. Monday, December 30th, 2019, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Vernon Racer and Reverend Rick Haines officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Dean was born September 2nd, 1930, on a farm east of Enid, to Cleo and Mabel (Gibson) Hedges and passed away December 24th, 2019, in Enid.
Dean grew up and worked alongside his family on their farm and graduated from Pioneer School in 1948. He married Lynnette Semrad on September 19, 1952, in Enid. They had 3 children; DeLynn, Brad, & Brian. They moved from the family farm to Enid in 1982.
Dean and Lynnette were long-time members of Pleasant Vale Community Church. Dean loved the thought of flying so he became a private pilot and flew out of Woodring Airport. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture, the Garfield County ASCS Office, and First National Bank Ag Credit before he and Lue Ann Root started Pioneer Real Estate and Auction Company. Dean was a charter member of Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Lions Club and was active with the Junior Livestock Shows and National Farm Bureau. He supported most anything going on in the Fairmont, Pioneer or Enid communities. Dean loved the many trips, gatherings, and fun times with the "1st Cuzins", cherishing each of them, along with all the shenanigans. He also loved to hunt and fish, looking for any opportunity to do either, always making sure the stories got exagerated a bit.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lynnette, and his sister Dorothy Hedges-White. He is survived by his son Brad (Katie) Hedges and family (Kristen Hedges-Palmer, Heath & Emily Hedges, Hannah Hedges, Hudson Hedges, & Hanson Hedges); son Brian (Debbie) Hedges and family (Gray Bunch); daughter DeLynn (Ronnie) Greenfield and family (Sheri Wise, Sara & Mike Stuber, Brook & Chris Carlsen, Brandi & Dustin Williams; great-grandchildren Jeslynn, Adler, Libby, Summer, Mikalyn, Dae, and Xander); brother Clee Jay (Pat) Hedges; sister Peggy (Harold) Westfahl; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorials in Dean's name may be made to Valir Hospice or Pleasant Vale Community Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
