March 20, 1935 - March 18, 2022

Dorothy Frech McKinney Dewan, 86, passed away on Friday, March 18, at Ponca City Hospital. Viewing will be from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will greet friends between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 25, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Don Griffin officiating. Burial will take place at 1:30 PM, Friday, at the Enid Cemetery, Enid, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave., Ponca City, OK 74601.

Dorothy was born on March 20, 1935, to Carl F. Frech and Ruby Anderson Frech at their farm home in Carmen, OK. The family moved to Enid in about 1945 and Dorothy grew up and went to school in Enid, graduating in 1953.

She married James McKinney on November 1, 1952 at Kingfisher, OK and of that marriage, three children were born. Michael McKinney, Keith McKinney, and Timothy McKinney, who died at birth. They were a Air Force family and lived in Bermuda, Long Island, NY, Kansas City, MO, Key West, FL, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.

On October 15, 1977, she married Edward Dewan in Enid, OK. Soon after their marriage, they went to Iran to work and while there, they were caught in the revolution when the Shah fell from power. After coming back to Oklahoma, they moved to Ponca City. They were divorced in 1989, but Dorothy continued to live in Ponca City where she worked and took an active park in the community. She was a legal assistant and worked for Kent Phipps until he closed his office, and then worked for several years in the Kay County Court Clerk's office, where she retired in 2000. She enjoyed being around people and always gave her best in whatever job she was involved in or activity that she enjoyed. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church, Soroptimist International of Ponca City, where she served as President several times, a member of Fanchon Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as Worthy Matron, a member of Singles Network, the Irresistible Red Hat Club, and the IP 2000 Investors Club.

She is survived by her son, Michael McKinney of Pasco, WA; grandson Sean McKinney of Richland, WA; her brother Carl Lee Frech and wife Paula of Oklahoma City, OK; and sister Charlene Curry of Orlando, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Ruby Frech; and sons Timothy McKinney and Keith McKinney,
