Douglas Union Cemetery


Funeral services for Donald McVicker, 70-year-old Covington resident, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Covington First Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Douglas Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Donald was born July 24, 1937, in Douglas, Okla., the son of Er-nest R. McVicker and Opal (Clark) McVicker and died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He grew up and attended school in Douglas. Donald worked for Safeway as a meat cutter and then went on to be a truck driver and a welder.

On Sept. 18, 1963, he married Carole Johnson. They made their home in Douglas. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington for many years.

Don enjoyed lots of things in his life but nothing more than his grandchildren. He also liked wood crafting, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Carole McVicker of the home; four daughters, Donna Marker and her husband Robert of Waukomis, Terri Glass and her husband Kenny of Perry, Rhonda Lickliter of Covington, and Lanetta Roney and her husband Michael of Enid; three brothers, David McVicker of Lone Wolf, Jerry McVicker of Douglas, and Terry McVicker and his wife Bobbie of Canton; three sisters, Martha Carter of Enid, Sharon Pope and her husband Ron of Canton, and Geneva Drake of Collinsville; five grandsons, Junior Marker, Brandon Reinhardt, Cody Backhaus, Josh Backhaus and Heston Roney; four granddaughters, Amanda Hampton, Tiffany Backhaus, Shelby Roney and Hailey Roney; three great-grandchildren, Keaton Marker, Ryan Felber and Mattison Felber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to OMRF, Diabetes Division, with Henninger-Allen Funeral Home acting as custodian of the fund.
