A Celebration of Life for Arthur C. Wegener, age 86, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Pastor Kenneth Wade will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, OK. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, November 11th at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Arthur was born January 3, 1933 in Drummond, OK to Armin and Velma (Maxey) Wegener and passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 in Enid.
He attended school in Garber, then served his country in the United States Army in Germany. He spent his life farming on the original family homestead northeast of Enid, which was claimed in the land run on September 16, 1893. It was named a Centennial Farm by the Oklahoma Historical Society and Oklahoma Department of Agriculture in 1995. He built custom homes in Enid area for many years. He helped build the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Arthur enjoyed many hobbies; antique tractors, woodworking, gardening, square dancing, and playing cards.
He is preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Tom and Becky Boone; of Rocksprings, WY; and his parents, Armin and Velma Wegener.
He is survived by two sons, Billy Joe Wegener and wife Pat, of Enid; Bobby Wegener of Enid; five grandchildren, Dr. Tom Boone of Norman, OK; Julia Johnson, of Norman, OK; Katie Boone, of San Diego, CA; Whitney Unruh of Enid; Kate Wegener of Dallas, TX; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Mitchell, of Enid; Charlene Hermanski of Enid; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Heidi.
Memorials in Arthur's name may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Heart Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
