ENID — ROLLAND E. SWART
Rolland was born to Scovell and Nellie Swart February 21, 1922, on the farm near Ames, Oklahoma. He attended Wildwood Country School and graduated from nearby Ames High School in 1939. After attending Enid Business College, he worked for George E. Failing Company.
With the advent of World War II, Rolland joined the Army Air Corps and became a pilot, flying B-17s and B-29s.
On July 2, 1944, Rolland married Naidine Taylor, of Drummond.
After the war, Rolland and Naidine returned to Enid, and he resumed his career at the Failing Company. Over the next three years, they were blessed with three children, Valerie, Gary and Robert.
Rolland joined the 45th Infantry National Guard unit, the "Fighting Thunderbirds," which were called up to active duty for the Korean War. After the war, Rolland and Naidine moved to Wichita, Kansas, where they both went to work for the Boeing Company. They later moved to the suburb of Derby in February 1954. In Derby, Rolland was very active in Scouting and was awarded Distinguished Service Award by Boy Scouts of America.
Rolland worked at Boeing for 32 years as an electronic technician and technical writer.
A few years after retirement, Rolland and Naidine moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in April 1992. During their retirement, Rolland and Naidine traveled extensively, including several trips to Europe and South America. Rolland enjoyed gardening and playing golf in Bella Vista for 12 years until they decided to return to Enid in 2004. Rolland and Naidine attended Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church and Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church.
Rolland is survived by his wife of 68 years, Naidine; and by his children, Valerie Buschbacher of Mulvane, Kansas, and Gary Swart and his wife Suzanne of Portland, Oregon. In addition to his three children, Rolland and Naidine have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Rolland was preceded in death by his brother, Donnis Swart of Drummond, Oklahoma; sister, Elwanda Burford, of Waukomis, Oklahoma; son, Robert Swart of Woodward, Oklahoma; and grandsons, Joe and Carl Buschbacher, of Derby, Kansas.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Afterward, he will be laid to rest in Del Norte Cemetery , south of Drummond. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home, 601 W. Broadway, Enid.

Funeral for Gladys Naidine Swart will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Dan O’Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Del Norte Cemetery in Drummond, Okla.
Gladys Naidine Swart (Taylor) passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015. By her side was her daughter, Valerie Buschbacher, and son, Gary, who flew in from Portland to be with his mother Saturday. Naidine was born July 18, 1922, in Edmond to Kihe and Lyla (Williams) Taylor and moved to a farm outside of Drummond when she was 4 years old, where she lived through her high school graduation.
After receiving an associates degree at Oklahoma A&M, she worked in Dallas as a secretary before returning to Enid. In 1944, she married Rolland Swart and lived in Enid where they had three children, Valerie, Gary and Robert. After the Korean War, they moved to Wichita, Kan., where she worked at Boeing, as well as raised the children. They bought a house in the suburb of Derby in 1954 where they lived until 1992. Naidine took an early retirement from Boeing and took up painting and golf. Shortly after Rolland retired, they moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where they pursued their passion for golf. In 2002, they returned to Enid one last time. Naidine and Rolland had three children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Naidine was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years; brother, Willis Taylor; youngest son, Robert Swart and her grandsons, Joseph and Carl Buschbacher.
Naidine is survived by her sisters, Guida Bingham, Verna Lee Jaeger, Glenda and Vada Gilbert; and children, Valerie Buschbacher, and Gary Swart and wife, Suzanne.
