ENID — Funeral service for Juanita Mae Summers will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Del Norte Cemetery , Drummond. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends from 7-9 p.m. today, Aug. 16, 2011, at the funeral home.
Juanita was born Sept. 11, 1913, in Capron, Okla., to John P. and Renee (Geery) Buford and died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, in Enid.
She grew up in Kingfisher County, Okla., on the family farm and graduated from high school in Lacy, Okla.
On Sept. 3, 1932, she married W.L. "Bill" Summers in Enid. They lived and farmed southwest of Drummond until moving to Ames, Okla., in 1967.
Juanita is survived by sons, Stanley Summers and wife Jtonne of Ames and Ted Summers and wife Darla of Guymon; six granddaughters, Kim McCoy, Sonya Tyau, Karla Creason, Rhonda January, Robin Bourgeola and Roxanne Peterson; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; infant son, Billy Gene; granddaughter, Jo Summers and brother, Oren Buford.
The family gives great recognition and thanks to all the wonderful staff at The Arbors Assisted Living Center, her special caregivers and Hospice Circle of Love. Memorials can be made to Ames Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home.
