Funeral services for L. V. McDonald, 81, 815 W. Wabash, were at 9:30 AM today in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Leslie G. Everitt officiating.
Burial will follow in the Del Norte Cemetery south of Drummond, under the direction of Henninger – Allen.
McDonald died Saturday morning in an Enid hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born at Carbondale, Kansas and moved with his parents to a farm southeast of Drummond. He attended rural school at Drummond. He married Letha Lenore Bracken on April 3, 1915, in Enid. He was employed at the Imo and Drummond banks before turning to full – time farming.
In 1933 the couple moved to Enid, where he worked at the courthouse and post office before retiring in 1961. In April, 1965, the couple celebrated its golden wedding anniversary.
McDonald had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1949.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Letha, of the home; three sons, LeRoy (Fuzzy) McDonald, Enid; Kenneth McDonald, Lawton, and James M. McDonald, Anaheim, California; one daughter, Mrs. John B. (Aileen) Harvey, Phillips, Maine; one brother, Frank McDonald, Enid; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Snoddy, Enid; 10 grandchildren, and three great – grandchildren.
Those who wish to make contributions in McDonald's memory may do so to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundations General Division. Henninger – Allen Funeral Home is acting as custodian of the fund.
