A Celebration of Life for Steve William Koen, age 66 years, of Drummond, is 10:30 am, Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church in Drummond with Rev. Kris Mayberry officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Steve was born September 1, 1952 in Wellington, Kansas to Bill and Lois (White) Koen, and passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Steve grew up in Enid, graduating from Enid High School in 1970. Following high school, he attended Phillips University where he majored in English, History and German, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor's Degree. He married Kathy Chapman December 29, 1978 in the Chapel of Integris Bass Baptist Hospital after a whirlwind courtship. Steve worked at the Enid Post Office for 36 years, retiring in 2009 due to a medical injury. Although some thought Steve had a gruff exterior, he was really a "big softie". He and Kathy were members of Salem United Methodist Church, and he read his bible daily. Steve was also an avid comic book collector.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lois (White) Koen, and a brother, David Koen. He is survived by his wife Kathy, of Drummond; daughter, Crystal Szymanski and husband Steven, of Enid; son Thom Koen and wife Kate Loughlin, of Woodward; one granddaughter, Addison Amelia Szynanski, of Enid; as well as other family and his many various friends and animal friends.
Memorials in Steve's name may be made to Drummond Fire Department and Salem United Methodist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
