The funeral for Billy Gene Henthorn, 78, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. John McLemore and Don Angle will officiate. Burial will be in Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond.
He was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Enid to Albert and Lois Wilson Henthorn and died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at St. Mary?s Regional Medical Center. He attended elementary school in Enid and moved near Ringwood with his family where he attended Glade country school and graduated from Cleo Springs High School. He served in the Navy Air Corp during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954 aboard the aircraft carriers USS Bon Homme Richard 31 and USS Oriskany 34. He served as an aviation machinist?s mate, third class, attached to Fighter Squadron 124.
He married Dorothy Helen Maidment June 11, 1954, in Pacific Beach, Calif. They made their home in Enid where he worked for Union Equity Cooperative Exchange, retiring after 43 years as superintendent of elevator Y. He was active in Boy Scouts of America and served as Scoutmaster for troop 13. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Sooner Sunday school class, Levis n Lace Square Dance Club and North Enid Lions Club. Surviving are his wife, Doro-thy of the home; one son, Thomas Edwin Henthorn of Mountain View, Calif.; a daughter, Donna Kay Henthorn of Enid; two brothers, Marcus of Enid and Bob of Moore; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

ENID, OK — The funeral for Dorothy Henthorn, 84, will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John McLemore officiating. Burial will be in Del Norte Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born May 6, 1930, in Oklahoma City to Edwin Harold and Helen Hoover Maidment and passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Edmond.
Dorothy grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School. She attended University of Oklahoma and earned a bachelor's degree in library science.
On June 11, 1954, Dorothy married Billy Gene Henthorn, and they made their home in Enid.
Dorothy worked at Enid Carnegie Library, Enid Public Library and Zollars Memorial Library at Phillips University. She was a member of Central Christian Church, where she participated in Sooner Sunday School Class and Quilt Central. She made more than 200 quilts and donated many to Youth and Family Services.
Dorothy was a member of Bethany Extension Club and Cherokee Strip Piecemakers Quilt Guild. She was a volunteer at Our Daily Bread. She enjoyed quilting (earning county fair awards), bicycling, walking, watching birds, turkeys and deer in her yard, gardening and canning vegetables.
Dorothy kept a daily journal and created many family scrapbooks. She liked the color blue, strawberries, Braum's ice cream, square dancing and ballroom dancing.
Dorothy is survived by son Thomas Edwin Henthorn and wife Yolanda and grandchildren Kris Lowe, Matthew, Danielle Genevro and Billy, all of California; daughter Donna Kay Henthorn Albright and husband Troy of Edmond, and grandchildren Jessica Radley of Stillwater and Jordan Goff of Enid; great-granddaughter Penelope June Henthorn; and sister Hallie Hull of Santa Rosa, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 2006.
