Covington Cemetery
The funeral for Aaron H. “Donny” Donaldson, 82, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Tommy Donaldson will officiate. Burial will be in Covington Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Fairmont to Aaron W. and Amy Lee Cartmell Donaldson and died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008.
He graduated from Pioneer High School and joined the Army in 1944, serving with the 345th Infantry Division. He fought in France, Belguim, Luxenbourg and Germany and was in combat 154 days. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to the Pioneer community where he farmed and was in the cattle trading business.
He married Delpha Nelson in 1947. They later moved to Enid and Perry before settling in Covington where he was co-owner of the Covington Sale Barn. He was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, north of Pioneer.
Surviving are one son, Aaron Jay Donaldson of Stedman, N.C.; three sisters, Ruth Beopple, Louise Frankie and Betty Dillingham; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delpha, one daughter, three brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Bethlehem Baptist Church.
