Covington Cemetery


The funeral services for Nancy L. Carter , 65-year-old former Stillwater resident, will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Eagle Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater. Pastor Brent Prentice will officiate. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Covington Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Nancy was born August 28, 1944, in Covington to James L. Carter and Bertha R. (Boepple) Carter and died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, in Highland Park Manor.

She attended and graduated from Covington High School in 1963. She lived in Covington with her parents and was raised and confirmed in the Lutheran Church before later joining the First Baptist Church. She lived briefly in Missouri before moving to Stillwater, where she lived independently for the first time. Nancy was a charter member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church, attended the Stillwater Life Center, and worked for 10 years at the Red Lobster as a silverware technician.

Nancy was an artist and found inspiration in nature and religion. She loved to sing and to visit friends, be it by phone, card, or face to face conversation. Nancy lived an inspirational life despite the many challenges she faced.

She is survived by brother, Melvin Carter and his wife, Jodene; and sister, Loretta ( Carter ) Bell, both of Covington , Oklahoma. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her special niece, Vicky, of Independence, Missouri, and her family (Dale, Ethan and Evan).

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Lester and LeRoy.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.
