Covington – Service for Joseph Mack Avery, 88, who died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at his Covington home, will be Friday at 10 AM in St. John's Lutheran Church, Covington. Rev. Carlton Kjerggard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Covington Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Garber.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile, of the home; six daughters, Mrs. Romney (Myrtle) Covington of Holdenvillel, Mrs. Edna Combs of Fresno, California, Mrs. Clayton (Norma) McMartin of Blackwell, Mrs. Velma Jean Dywre of Sacramento, California, and Mrs. Charles (Lorraine) Smith of Perry, Mrs. Aaron (Bertha) Staerkell, Enid; six sons, Earl S. of Garber; Noah M. Connie M. And Don M, all of Ponca City; Carl J, Enid, and Bobby D. Of Covington; 20 grandchildren and 14 great – grandchildren.

The funeral for Cecile L. Avery, 97, of Covington, will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Covington. The Rev. Jerry Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Covington Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
She was born Aug. 8, 1910, in Elizabeth, Ark., to Elias and Sophia Nimmo McGlasson and died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, in Enid. She married Mack Avery April 27, 1928, in Beggs. They made their home in Covington, where she was a homemaker.
Surviving are her children, Jean Dwyre and Bertha Staerkel, both of Enid, Bob Avery of Covington, Connie Avery and Don Avery, both of Ponca City, and Lorene Smith of Perry; stepchildren, Myrtle Covington of Holdenville and Edna Combs of Fresno, Calif.; one brother, Jack McGlasson of Eufaula; two sisters, Sylvia Doyle of Midwest City and Betty Root of Davis; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mack, she was preceded in death by one son, one daughter and two stepsons.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. John's Lutheran Church.
