Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Avery, 78, Covington, who died Monday morning in a local hospital, will be at 2 PM Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Covington.
Rev. Carlton Kjergaard will officiate and burial will be in the Covington Cemetery under the direction of the Brown Funeral Home.
Mrs. Avery was born in Crawford County, Indiana, and was married to Charley Avery in 1910 at English, Indiana. They moved to Oklahoma in 1910, settling at Waukomis where they lived until moving to Covington in 1936. He preceded her in death in 1968 and she was preceded in death by a son Edward in 1932, and by three sisters.
Survivors include four sons, EsTel Avery, Moab, Utah, Ralph Avery, Grand Junction, Colorado, Fred Avery of Covington and Glenn Avery of Covington; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Verla) Mack, Covington; 28 grandchildren; 21 great – grandchildren; a brother, Stewart Atkins, Oakland, Indiana.
