The graveside service for Charles E. Gopfert, 90-year-old Covington resident, is 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2022, in the Covington Cemetery Pavilion. Rev. Tommy Donaldson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Charles was born August 24, 1931, on a farm two miles west of Covington to Herman and Lena (Wolf) Gopfert and died Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his home in Covington.
Charles attended Covington Schools and after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After the service, he returned to Covington where he worked as a carpenter and plumber in and around the Covington area for many years. He later worked for the county.
Charles was a gifted craftsman and painter. Many of his paintings are on display at the Tri-County Senior Center in Covington.
He is survived by his brother Earl and wife Janice of Covington as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers; Arthur, Raymond, and Fred and three sisters; Wilma, Donna, and Vera.
Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to the Tri-County Senior Center.
