Funeral service for Melvin Dickson, 82 of Covington, will be Monday, April 25, 2022, at 10:00 am in Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Covington Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Melvin was born July 8, 1939, in Poteau, Oklahoma to Olive Edith and Gertie Edna (Green) Dickson and passed away on April 21, 2022, at his home in Covington. He grew up in Wister, Oklahoma and later Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Melvin served in the US Army, being stationed in France and Germany. On February 19, 1967, he married Rachel "Patsy" Hicks in Wister. They lived in Lacey, Marshall and Covington. They were together 48 years until Patsy's passing in 2015. Melvin was a welder in the oilfield and also had his own welding shop. He enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, tinkering in his shop, and most of all his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by parents and wife Patsy.

He is survived by his children, Donna Hicks, Randy (Darla) Dickson, Denver (Wendy) Dickson and Bobby Dickson; brother, Ernie Dickson; sisters, Lorene Naylor, and Betty Lang; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
