Evelyn Mae (Hays) Cassody Tuesday, December 6th, 1927 - Wednesday, October 18th, 2023

A Celebration of Life service for Evelyn Mae Cassody age 95, will be 2:00 pm Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Tom Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Covington Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Evelyn was born on the family farm that her grandparents Matt and Annie Hays settled during the land run. She was born December 6, 1927 to Everett and Mable Randolph Hays and passed away October 18, 2023. She lived east of Enid the first 21 years. Evelyn graduated from Garber High School in 1945 and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK. After WWII her best friend Robert returned home and they were married June 6, 1948 at First Methodist Church in Enid. They lived in the Covington community for 45 years, where they raised their four children. She was a booster for FFA and 4H Clubs, Garfield County Rural Rotatory Club and Covington East Side Home Demonstration Club. Evelyn had her own beauty shop, and later was an instructor at Enid Beauty College. They moved to Enid in 1996. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington , where she taught Sunday school and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and volunteered at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital. Her family was the light of her life.

She is survived by; daughters Patti Henderson of Edmond, OK and Connie Herlihy of Bixby, Okla., Janet Chelf and husband Dr. John Chelf of Tulsa, Okla.; son, Tom Cassody and wife Sherry of Covington, Okla.; grandchildren, Stacie Jackson and husband Matthew, Carrie Brewster and husband Erik, Dr. Kelli Herlihy Dyer and husband Dr. Steven Dyer, Jennie Sappington and husband Tony, Richard Herlihy, Garrett Cassody and wife Bruna; great grandchildren; Keegan and Kylie Jackson, Avery, Hunter, Holden, and Hadley Henderson, Spencer and Henry Dyer, Jentrie, Trinity, and Sadie Sappington, Cassidy and Everett Brewster.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and grandsons Weston Cassody, Connor and Parker Henderson, great grandson Aiden Brewster, and two brothers and four sisters.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Covington with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodians of the funds.
