Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Larry K. Rogers, 67, of Fairmont, Okla., will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at Collett Cemetery, north of Fairmont, with the Rev. Tim Dorsch officiating. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. today, Sept. 9, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Larry was born April 12, 1948, in Henryetta, Okla., the son of Henry Jr. and Gertrude Simmons Rogers. He passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015.

He was a 1966 graduate of McLain High School in Tulsa, Okla. Larry attended NOC Tonkawa before being called to serve his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970, with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, K Troop, Blackhorse. Upon his return, he attended Oklahoma State University, where he soon met his wife for life.

Larry was united in marriage to Marcia Kay Jones on July 28, 1972, in Tulsa.

Larry was employed as a pumper for Texaco Production and Exploration in Harper, Kan., and Enid, Okla., and most recently retired in 2011 from Horne Oil Company. He was the assistant fire chief of the volunteer fire department in Harper, Kan., and also served as a volunteer firefighter in Fairmont, Okla. He spent many weekends involved with the family at youth rodeo events. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and a very humble man.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia; a son, Garrett Rogers and wife Erin of Moundridge, Kan.; daughter, Leanne Rogers and her fiancé Scott Jacobs of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one grandson, Cole Henry Rogers; and sister, Debby Madden of Skiatook, Okla.

Memorial contributions may be made to OMRF, Parkinson’s division, The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation or the Fairmont Fire Department, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
