Michael Tuohy was born to Michael, Sr. and Loretta (Burke) Tuohy on January 16, 1926 in Queens Village, Long Island, New York and passed away February 10, 2019 in Enid.

He attended Parochial school through the eighth grade and graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1943. World War II was being fought at the time so he joined the United States Navy in January 1944, and went to Radio School in Bedford Springs, PA. Mike served as a Radio Operator on three different ships (LCT34, LST 388 and LSM 371) in the American, European and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters. This duty took him to Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, Italy, France, Panama and the Hawaiian Islands. Mike's travels in the Navy caused him to be in some very important places at some very historic times. The death of President Roosevelt found him in Rome, Italy, VE day in Marseille, France, and VJ in New York City. These were places and events known the world over. Few people were as fortunate as Mike in being on the scene for such events.

He received his honorable discharge from the Navy in May, 1946. Mike attended Oklahoma A&M and graduated in June, 1950. While a student there, he met Betty Malone of Enid, Oklahoma. They fell in love, had a long courtship and were married on June 9, 1950.

The couple moved to Enid where Mike was hired by Liberty Federal Savings and Loan Association. He was taught the business by F.D. Campbell who was one of the most knowledgable in the field at that time. He served Liberty for forty plus years, retiring as president and Chairman of the Board in 1991.

Mike was active in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, serving on the Board, as a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Diocesan Development Fund. In addition, he served as President of the following: Enid Toastmaster's Club, Northern Oklahoma Society of Real Estate Appraisers, Enid Exchange Club, Oklahoma Savings League, Enid Community Chest and Enid Memorial Hospital.

He also served on the Board of the Federal Home Loan bank of Topeka, KS; Cimarron Federal Savings Bank, Muskogee, Oklahoma; Universal Savings and Loan, Chickasha, Oklahoma; Arrowhead Federal Savings and Loans, OKC; COMAC Computer Services; Enid Credit Bureau; Enid Trade Promotion and Mid-Western Life Insurance Company. His many years of service as a volunteer with Our Daily Bread meant a great deal to him. He was inspired by the tireless efforts of his boss, Sandy Howard, who was devoted to her work.

Betty and Mike had four children whom they loved dearly: Rita Janousek, Colleen, Kevin and Shawn. Betty and Mike had a passion for travel, not only in the United States but also in such places as Switzerland, England, Scotland and Italy. They made twenty four trips to Ireland and took their children and grandchildren to this beautiful country on many of these trips.

Michael is survived by his wife Betty; children, Rita Janousek; Colleen Tuohy; Kevin Tuohy and wife, Ursula; Shawn Tuohy and wife, Vickie; grandchildren, Josh Janousek and wife, Jennifer; Kelly Tuohy; Hannah Lollman and husband, Justin; Darcy Asbill and husband, Christian; and Kegan Tuohy; great-grandchildren, Aiden Janousek and Maggie Lollman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Pascal; Loretta DeArmon and Rita Ohle; brothers, Patrick and Jack Tuohy.
