Mass of Christian burial for Larry Mead McClure, 82-year-old Enid resident, will be 10:30 a.m. today, July 16, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin Ratterman officiating. Committal will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Larry was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Carrier, Okla., to Hugh M. and Bertha A. (Bilderback) McClure and died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1946. On August 7, 1949, he married Marie Dolores Sarver at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. They made their home in Enid. Larry was a longtime Enid builder and developer. He developed The Woodlands, Willow West, Waterford Court, Brookside Heights, Heritage Hills and Willow Lake as well as Heritage Hills Shopping Center and office complexes with longtime partners Tom Rogers Sr. and James Humphrey.

He was an avid tennis player, sailor, snow skier, quail hunter, traveler and adventurer. He and his wife loved to dance and were charter members of Enid Big Band Dance Club. He was a man of optimism, generosity, integrity and dedication to his family, church and the city of Enid.

He was a 50-year member of the local, state and national Home Builders Association as well as a 50-year member of Noon AMBUCS. He was active in numerous civic organizations including serving on the boards of Liberty Federal Bank, Enid Tennis Association, Enid Chamber of Commerce, Oakwood Country Club, Habitat for Humanity, Enid Day Care, Autry Vo-Tech, Sons and Daughters of the Cherokee Strip, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and St. Gregory the Great Catholic building committees.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry is survived by his wife, Dolores, of the home; four children, Dan McClure and wife Judy of Houston, Texas; Mary Kathleen McClure of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; Claire McLinn and husband Bruce of Edmond; Kelly Callant and husband Dave of Enid; five grandchildren, Andrew, Mark and Kathleen McClure and Chelsea and Drew Callant; aunt, Vada Bea Killam; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian burial for Marie Dolores McClure, 85-year-old Enid, Okla., resident, will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Irwin will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Dolores was born March 15, 1929, in Enid to Leonard and Marie (Churchfield) Sarver and died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, in Enid. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Enid High School in 1946. She attended Oklahoma A&M University as an art major.

On Aug. 7, 1949, she married Larry Mead McClure at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. They had 60 wonderful years together, until Larry’s death in 2010. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing bridge, tennis, boating and skiing.

Dolores was an officer and active participant in Larry McClure Construction Company, the business of her husband, a longtime Enid builder and developer.

Dolores was active in numerous civic and social organizations, including Sons and Daughters of the Cherokee Strip, President of the Altar Society at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, President of PEO Chapter DB, Chi Beta Study Club, and board member of Enid YWCA.

Dolores and her husband loved to dance and were charter members of Enid Big Band Dance Club.

Dolores’ passion was supporting the arts in Enid. She was a longtime member of the Greater Enid Arts and Humanities Council and served two terms as president. She served on the boards of Enid’s Gaslight Theater and the Enid Beautiful Inc. She funded an annual art scholarship at Enid High School, was a founding sponsor of Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse, and was a sponsor of the Enid Symphony Orchestra.

Dolores and her husband commissioned and donated “The Homesteaders” statue at Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center.

In 2012, she was honored to receive the Governor’s Arts Award for community service by the Oklahoma Arts Council.

Dolores was a strong and vital woman and a wonderful conversationalist. She dedicated her life to her family, her church, her friends and the city of Enid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Patty George.

Dolores is survived by four children, Dan McClure and wife Judy of Houston, Texas, Mary Kathleen McClure of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Claire McLinn and husband Bruce of Edmond, and Kelly Callant and husband Dave of Enid; five grandchildren, Andi, Mark and Kathleen McClure, and Chelsea and Drew Callant; as well as two nieces, a nephew and numerous cousins.

Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to Enid Arts Council, Enid YWCA, or the Altar Society at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
