Arthur H. Houser, 78, Route 5, died early Monday in a local hospital after a long illness.

Wake Bible Service will be at 7 PM today in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Wednesday in St. Francis Xavier Church with the Rev. Marvin F. Leven and the Rev. Larry Kowalski officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Houser was born October 27, 1899, at Hennessey. He was raised and attended schools in the Lahoma community. He served with the Navy during World War I.

Houser married the former Mary Best August 9, 1923, in Enid. They lived in Enid and Long Beach, California. In 1952, they returned to Enid and farmed southeast of town.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and Argonne Post 4 of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Mary; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Elnora) Gabel, Lakewood, California; Mrs. Bill (Mary Lee) Vogt, Long Beach, California, and Mrs. Aubrey (Margaret) Irwin, Ontario, California; 10 grandchildren; 10 great–grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Trilla Conaway, San Bernardino, California.
