July 7, 1927 - September 12, 2008

VanDella Goeke, 81, died early Friday morning, Sept. 12, 2008, after a long illness at Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach, Fla. She was born July 7, 1927, in Rockland, Wis.

She married Leland A. Goeke Sr., of Newton, Wis., in Salina, Kan., Aug. 2, 1944. They first moved to Enid in 1963, when Leland was assigned as Reserve Advisor to the 409th Transportation Battalion. VanDella returned to Enid during Leland's return to Vietnam, eventually making Enid their retirement home. After retiring, they opened a self-service gas station at Elm and 2nd, followed by stations at 5th and Maine and finally at Oak and Grand. VanDella worked as hostess at the Oakwood Country Club. She was active in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church as a lector.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland A. Goeke Sr., Enid; son-in-law, Larry Jones, Yukon; and granddaughter, Kendra Stolle, Albuquerque, N.M. She is survived by sons, Michael and wife Sherri Goeke of Enid, and Leland Jr. and wife Kathy Goeke of Vancouver, Wash.; daughters, Carol and husband Fred Lachenmeyer of Albuquerque, N.M., and Karen Jones of Yukon; grandsons, Stephen and wife Leah Goeke of Enid, Michael and wife Kelly Jones and Kelly "KJ" and wife Holly Jones, all of Boca Raton, Fla., Travis and wife Jill Koch of West Fargo, N.D.; granddaughters, Jayme Jones of Yukon, and Katrina Goeke of Seattle, Wash.; great-grandsons, Kade Goeke and Dax Goeke, both of Enid, Triston Jones of Boca Raton, Fla.; great-granddaughters, Katelynn Jones and MacKenzie Jones, both of Boca Raton, Fla., Taylor Foster of Enid, Sabrina and Sadey Koch, both of West Fargo, N.D.

There will be a rosary at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 17, 2008, at Henninger-Hinson Chapel lead by Tony Crispo. The mass of Christian burial will be noon Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin Ratterman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.enidwecare.com. (Paid Obit 9-17-1)
