Calvary Catholic Cemetery



The funeral for Evelyn May Craig, 88, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. The Rev. Larry Kowalski will officiate. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation will follow.

She attended a country school for eight years and graduated from Garber High School in 1938. She attended two years at Tonkawa Junior College. Following graduation she worked at Gold Spot Dairy as bookkeeper. She married Jarvis H. Craig Jan. 20, 1943, in Enid. They made their home west of Enid until 1983, when they moved northwest of Enid. They owned and operated Craig Pest Control Co., where she was bookkeeper. She also was a homeroom mother, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader and 4-H helper. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She delivered Meals on Wheels for more than 25 years. She visited newcomers at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and belonged to the Alter Society. She was a charter member of St. Mary Magdalene Study Club. She was a member of St. Gregory's Alter Society and took communion to shut-ins and nursing homes.

Surviving are her children, George Craig of El Cerrito, Calif., Charlotte Wright of Charlotte, N.C., and Mary Buthman, Charles Craig, John Craig and David Craig, all of Enid; one sister, Rowena Kerr; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
