Joseph Curtis Augustine Meade (Joe)
August 28, 1942 - January 7, 2021
Joe Meade, 78-year-old Enid resident, died Thursday January 7, 2021, in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Bison, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in Bison Cemetery.
Joseph Curtis Michael Augustine Meade was born on August 28, 1942, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Paul and Emma (Kokojon) Meade. He grew up in Bison, Oklahoma, and graduated from Waukomis Public Schools. Joe was united in marriage to Gertrude Annette Cowherd on July 16, 1965, in Enid, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Waukomis before moving to Enid.
Joe worked at Vance Air Force Base as a security guard. He also worked at Pope Distributing, Hamm and Phillips, and B.O.C. Crygen. Joe enjoyed going on vacations, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of Hennessey String and Powder Club.
His is survived by his son, Ed Meade and wife Dianna; daughter, Angela Rummery and husband Jason; grandchildren, Clint Meade, Jake Meade, Breanna Rummery, and Ty Rummery; great-grandchildren, Harper Meade, Harrison Meade, Nathan Meade, and Jackson Meade; sister-in-law, Vernice Meade; Mark Fair (Meade), Amanda and husband Timothy Sprosty, Sara and husband Victor McAlister, children Sienna and Cade; sister, Nancy (deceased) children Michelle and family, family of Gretchin Boyer, Brendon Semrad and family, Suzie Scheibner and family, and Nicole Saunders Oatman and family.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emma Meade; brother Paul Jr. Meade; sister Dena Popovich and husband Mike Popovich; sister, Nancy Saunders and Nancy's daughter Gretchin Boyer.
