Mass of Christian Burial for Dolores C. Knapik, 85, will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Rajesh Mankena will officiate. Burial will follow in Bison Cemetery under direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid.
Dolores was born November 19, 1928, on the family farm east of Bison to Charlie Carl and Lucy Katherine (Felber) Mack and died Friday, January 31, 2014, in Enid.
Dolores grew up on the family farm and attended grade school at Bison. She then graduated from St. Joseph’s School in 1946. After graduation, she attended St. Francis Nursing School in Wichita, Kan., graduating in 1949.
Dolores married Joseph Knapik in 1954.
She worked for the Red Cross, educating nurses on how to care for polio patients. Dolores was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Jay Knapik and wife Karen of Enid, and Lisa Hodges and husband Rex of Oklahoma City; son-in-law, Steve Farber of Cupertino, California; five grandchildren, Matthew and Jeff Farber, Katie Knapik, Nicole Hodges and Molly Knapik; four brothers, LeRoy (Elegva) Mack, Larry (Karen) Mack, all of Bison, Carl (Karen) Mack, of Drummond, Robert (Shirley) Mack, of Enid; six sisters, Eleanor Watt of North Carolina, Marcella Schovanec of Hunter, Yvonne (Gary) Wingard of Colby, Kansas, Blanche (Jack) Ryel of Tulsa, Sharon (Mike) Pitman of Drummond, and Mary (Larry) Cagigal, Oklahoma City; many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1960 and daughter Heidi Farber in 2008.
Memorials may be made to Our Daily Bread or St. Mary’s Rehab Unit.
