Bison Cemetery


Wake service for Lucille Houska, 96, will be at 7 p.m. today, April 7, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bison. Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at St. Joseph’s, officiated by Rev. Joseph Arledge. Burial will follow in Bison Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey. Lucille was born in Bee, Neb., on Dec. 9, 1916, to Michael and Marie Stastny Linhart and died Friday April 5, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid. She married John Houska May 4, 1937, in Bison.
Lucille was a very active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bison, and St. Joseph’s Altar Society since 1937; Associate of The Adorers of The Blood of Christ for 15 years; Oklahoma No. 1 Polka Club; awarded Woman of Achievement of St. Joseph’s Parish. Lucille was well known for her kolache baking and loved going to dances. Lucille worked at Dinkler Drug in Hennessey, nurses aide at St. Mary’s Hospital, Marquis Studio in Enid, and Bison and Waukomis schools.

She is survived by two daughters, Sister Angela (Phyllis) Houska, ASC of Wichita, Kan., and Flo Vasquez of Waukomis; two sons, Donald A. Houska of Bison, and Ron Houska and wife Kathy of Enid; granddaughter, Michelle Scott and husband Randall; and one great-grandson, Landen of Waukomis; stepgrandchildren, Ann Owens of Enid, and Amy Shelite of Atoka; one sister, Ann Fuksa and husband Ernest of Enid; and numerous people who considered her their mother due to her nurturing nature. We will miss her dearly.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, John; five sisters, Mary Nemec, Adeline Fuksa, Martha Fuksa, Margaret Ponec and Kathryn Kasl, and two brothers, Joe Linhart and Anthony Linhart.
