Ernest "Gabby" Gabriel, 94, passed away June 13, 2023, in Enid. Ernest Gabriel was born October 11, 1928, on the family farm east of Bison to Frank and Lucy Hromas Gabriel. He graduated from Hennessey. Gabby farmed all his life except the time spent in the military where he served with the United States Army in Germany. Ernest and Clementine (Clemy) Jane Chermack were married at Bison in 1957. Together they farmed for many years and were teammates who proudly built Gabriel farms. He took pride in showing off the things Clemy made for people and he even painted some of the Christmas village pieces that they displayed every year at their home for Christmas and other crafts that he enjoyed working on.
Gabby loved attending his kids and grandkids school activities and sports events. He and Clemy were thrilled when they got to meet their great grandkids.
Gabby was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bison. He served as a board member for the Bison Coop for six years.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rose Pacula and Helen Hajek and brothers Albert and Frankie. His wife Clemy died two weeks ago. Gabby is survived by son, Randy (Martha) and daughters Susan and Julie, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
