The funeral for Jimmy Lee Talbott, 67, of Fairmont, will be 2 p.m. today at Pioneer school. The Rev. Tommy Donaldson will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
He was born May 16, 1940, in Enid, to Orville and Lena Thelma Smith Talbott and died Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Enid. He grew up on a farm south of Covington before moving with his family to the Pioneer school community near Waukomis when he was in the sixth grade. Following graduation from Pioneer High School in 1958, he went on harvest crews with Tom Dillingham and Stanley Dotson. He also had his own harvest crew and went north for three years. He worked for Home Oil and Gas in Waukomis and drove propane truck for several years. He married Lamoine Stephens Sept. 10, 1967, in Enid. He farmed and worked for Hedges Construction, Devoll Livestock Hauling and Stanley Dotson’s Livestock Hauling. He also did custom swathing and baling in addition to his own farming. He hauled milk for AMPI from 1977 to 1985, and worked again for Stanley Dotson hauling livestock until 1986, when he began his own livestock hauling business.
In 1982, he was elected to the Pioneer-Pleasant Vale School Board, serving 25 years. He also served on the Fairmont Co-op board.
Surviving are his wife, Lamoine; one son, Jerry; one daughter, Sarah; one sister, Ruth Ann Landwehr; and one grandson.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Garfield County 4-H Foundation, Pioneer Pleasant Vale School Foundation, or Bethlehem Baptist Church.
