Martha Jane [Walker] Ditgen
March 24, 1864 ~ January 23, 1940


Martha Jane Walker, daughter of Mary Jane and William Walker was born on March 24, 1864 in Osage County Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Houston Wood Matthews and to this union eight children were born: Cora, Lawrence, Pearl, Oma, Walker, Clark, Arnold, and Glenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.

In 1918 she moved to Oklahoma and in October 1928 was united in marriage to John Ditgen of Fairmont, Oklahoma, who survives her.

Services will be held in the First Baptist church on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock for Mrs Martha Jane Matthews Ditgen, age 75, who died Tuesday night at her home, 410 East Oklahoma.

The Rev Grady Lambert of the Calvary Baptist church will officiate and burial will be made in Bethany cemetery, southeast of Enid.

The pallbearers will be J. W. Knecht, Andy Overstreet, Frank Kornbaum, Frank Barnes, Karl Geis and Garrie Dillon.

The body will be cared for at the Dunlavy funeral home until the hour for the service.

Catherine Josephina Laura [Ludwig] Ditgen
March 25, 1874 ~ October 10, 1927


Katherine Ludwig, second daughter of Franz and Katherine Ludwig, was born in Taylerville Illinois March 25, 1874, and died on October 10, 1927 at the age of 53 years, six months and 15 days.

Her early life was spent in Illinois and Kansas.

In 1891 she came with her parents to Hennessey, Oklahoma where she lived until April 6, 1896 when she was united in marriage to John Ditgen and came to live on the farm on which she spent the remainder off her life.

Mrs Ditgen was the mother of seven children, two daughters dying in infancy. The surviving relatives are her husband, three daughters, Mrs Katherine Lang of Fairmont, Mrs Mary Ann Stephens of Milan, Kansas, Mrs Rosa Lang of Fairmont; two sons, Theodore M. of Maricopa, California and Johnnie Ditzen of Buffalo, Oklahoma. She also leaves five grandchildren, her aged father, Franz Ludwig of Hennessey; six sisters; Mrs Mary Roder of Hennessey, Mrs Anna Geier of Wakita, Oklahoma, Mrs Josie Knecht and Mrs Elizabeth Knecht of this vicinity, and Mrs Tracy Hickey of Hennessey; three brothers, Frank Ludwig of Fairmont, Henry Ludwig of Hennessey and August Ludwig of Supply, Oklahoma, besides other relatives and friends innumerable.

She was preceded in death by her mother, but was the first of a family of ten children to go.

Others from a distance attending the funeral were Mr Ditgen's brother and his wife, Mr and Mrs Nick Ditgen of Sterling, Kansas, Mr and Mrs John Lolling and Mr Clarence Ditgen of Nickerson, Kansas.

Mrs Ditgen has been a semi-invalid for six years.
