Dorothy Hohweiler was born July 18, 1921, to C.C. & Dora Becker Hohweiler at Fargo, Oklahoma. She joined the family of one sister, Martha and four brothers, Henry, Jake, Joel and Ezra.

Dorothy attended school at Fargo, graduating from Fargo High School in 1940. Her activities included music and sports. She started orchestra in 4th grade and went on to band where she served as lead cornet throughout her junior and senior years.

Following graduation she married Floyd H. Steinert of Shattuck, Oklahoma. Floyd and Dorothy were active members of the community. They participated in the Republican Committee, both county and precinct election boards, Cemetery Board, Farm Bureau and Fargo, Gage and Woodward Order of the Eastern Star.

Floyd was politically inclined and ran for Representative District 59. A member of the Masonic Lodge, he served as District Deputy for a number of years. Dorothy was very proud to hold the honor of Oklahoma State Republican Representative Registrar of the Election Board and, as a member of the OES, served as District Deputy of District 6. She was a member of the Ellis County EMT service for 25 years serving as a First Responder. She enjoyed reading, TV sports, crocheting and knitting as hobbies.

Floyd and Dorothy were married 61 years. To this union were born Kayleen Joyce and Marilyn Janet (twins), Karen Sue and Floyd William (Billy). Dorothy passed from this life March 9, 2014 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Floyd in 2000; her daughters Marilyn Janet Steinert Bailey in 2001 and Kayleen Joyce Steinert in 2010; her son Billy in 1951; her sister Martha Hohweiler Davis and spouse; brothers Henry, Jake, Joel, Ezra and their spouses; son-in-law LaRoy V. Bailey.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Sue Steinert Herbert and spouse, Chester Herbert II of Yukon, OK; 5 grandchildren, Cynthia Buckler and spouse Jeff of Virginia Beach, VA, Anthony Penix of Fargo, OK, Melodie Bailey Price and husband Justin of Fargo, OK, Chester Anthony Herbert III of Yukon, OK and Kelly Herbert Allen and spouse Bryan of Yukon, OK; 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
